INTA Argentina and USDA Co-Funded Projects

In a powerful collaboration that underscores the global commitment to advancing animal health, INTA Argentina and the USDA have co-funded five significant research projects aligned with STAR IDAZ priority areas. These projects, with a combined funding of $600,000, focus on critical aspects of animal disease research, particularly around Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) and other foreign animal diseases. These co-funded projects address several critical research areas:

  • Understanding Cross-Reactive Responses through Vaccine Strains: This research explores how different vaccine strains interact to trigger cross-reactive immune responses, aiming to enhance the efficacy of vaccines
  • Understanding Local and Systemic Protective Responses Against FMDV Infection: This project delves into the immune responses at both the local and systemic levels, providing insights into how FMDV infections can be effectively managed and prevented.
  • Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostics, Surveillance, Control, and Eradication: Focusing on the tools and strategies needed for the early detection and management of foreign animal diseases, this research is vital for global biosecurity.
  • In Vitro Evaluation of the Capacity of FMDV to Initiate T-Independent Humoral Responses: This study investigates the ability of FMDV to trigger immune responses without the assistance of T-cells, a crucial area for understanding and controlling the virus.
  • Role of Local and Systemic Immunity in Protection: A deeper understanding of how local and systemic immunity contributes to the protection against diseases, helping to inform better vaccine strategies.
