Ceva and ILRI Partner to launch Animal Health Innovation Hub for Africa
The new Hub aims to tackle Africa’s major animal health challenges by promoting research, innovation, and capacity-building. Poor animal health currently costs the continent an estimated USD 9 billion annually—about 6% of the livestock sector’s total value—impacting food security, livelihoods, and climate resilience.
Key focus areas of the Hub include vaccine development tailored to Africa’s needs, data-driven health monitoring systems, intra-African technical knowledge transfer, real-time market intelligence, and support for startups in the animal health ecosystem.
ILRI Director General Appolinaire Djikeng called the partnership a vital step toward “bringing research solutions to the market,” while Ceva CEO Marc Prikazsky stressed the company’s commitment to ensuring innovations make a real-world impact for African farmers.
By connecting global and African scientists, the initiative aims to foster a collaborative environment where innovation thrives and sustainable livestock solutions emerge.
