Objectives
The overall objective of the STAR IDAZ IRC is to coordinate research at the international level to contribute to new and improved animal health strategies for at least 30 priority diseases/infections/issues.
The aim is to accelerate the delivery of effective:
- Candidate vaccines
- Diagnostics
- Therapeutics and products
- Scientific information to support risk analysis and disease control
Approach and Structure
Working Groups, consisting of researchers and subject experts, are guided by a Scientific Committee to perform research gap analyses and critical path analysis to produce research ‘roadmaps’.
The Scientific Committee, consisting of independent experts, present the roadmaps to the IRC partners and advise them on how their programmes might be aligned to address the priority gaps.
The impact we’re having
Reducing duplication of research effort and encouraging information sharing
Facilitating research gap analysis including the provision of literature reviews for working groups, maps funding activities against identified research needs, and helps mobilise resources to address them.
