The International Conference on Production Diseases in Farm Animals (ICPD) attracts scientists from multidisciplinary fields within animal science and veterinary medicine to discuss the links between animal disease and husbandry factors. The conference addresses a larger goal of defining a path towards producing animals in a more healthy, welfare-friendly and efficient manner and addresses the different factors influencing health, including nutrition, endocrinology, physiology, immunohistology, genetics, and animal behaviour.
The ICPD 2025 has One Health, One Welfare as a main theme. The recent SARS-CoV-2 pandemic highlighted the importance of a multidisciplinary approach for a sustainable future. One Health and One Welfare should enable us to monitor and control public health threats and to learn about how diseases spread, can be prevented or treated among people, animals, plants, and the environment. This requires the cooperation of human, animal, and environmental health partners, a key ambition of the ICPD 2025.
