- Several studies were conducted to estimate the R0 for ASF across the years. For the Malta’78 isolate, a first
approximation of the basic R0 resulted in an estimate of 18.0 (6.90–46.9). For the Georgia 2007/1 ASFV strain, models
showed that R0 is 2·8 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1·3–4·8] within a pen and 1·4 (95% CI 0·6–2·4) between pens
