Summary

The purpose of this report is to revisit that panel of priority knowledge gaps across animal influenza research identified by workshop reports conducted by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and OFFLU (the OIE/FAO network of expertise on animal influenza) in 2014, and by the European Food Safety Authority in 2015.

It reports on progress in these areas, and to provides a general overview of the research that has been conducted across the major fields of animal influenza in the past six years.

Further, by incorporating research updates and input from leading scientists in the field, this report represents a current picture of animal influenza research around the world, enriched by the first-hand knowledge of those working at its cutting edge
